Estancia is a nice neighborhood type place and not a destination dining place. But sometimes you just need good classic joint as not every meal needs to be some crazy fancy night out. Since two of my friends live in the Tribeca area, I met up with a few of my B-school friends here for a long overdue catch up. The place is perfect for a casual meet up as it's not too crowded and it's not very loud.
The menu has got a little bit of everything - salads, sandwiches and several eggy dishes for brunch. I got the Milanesa sandwich ($14), which was a breaded chicken breast, arugula, tomato, mayo on a toasted baguette. Overall, it was pretty tasty but I felt like they could have used a bigger chicken cutlet. But the best part of the meal were the french fries. They were like your classic MacDonald-like fries - perfectly salted and nice and crunchy.
Like I said, we came here because it was low key and allowed us to have some good food and cocktails while not having to deal with lines or crowds. I don't see myself running back here if I wasn't in the area but if you need a solid casual place in the Tribeca area give it a look-see.
