Speedy Romeo  63 Clinton St., New York, NY 10002

My friends and I were originally going to a Cuban place for brunch in Bed-Stuy but sadly they had been broken into the night before.  While I always tout how safe Brooklyn is and how bougie it has gotten, it was still a sign that you never know these days.

So we had to quickly pivot and luckily Speedy Romeo was not too far away and it was early enough that we could get a table for 6 super easily.  While I love pizza in all forms at any time, my experience here lead me to believe that maybe I don't like breakfast pizza as much as I do regular pizza.  But I love a good runny egg and I wanted to try something different.  The breakfast pizza ($21) reminded me a bit more like a white pie as it didn't have all the best parts of a red pizza pie - namely the cheese and red sauce.  Instead, it was kind of like a dry pizza crust with an egg baked on it with ham, provel and some hot sauce.  I was just missing the moist, gooey factor for me.  It was have also used a lot more hot sauce for me to make up for the lack of tomato flavor.

Even though we got there pretty much right when the doors opened the service was still super slow and the table we got was a high top and it was kind of uncomfortable.  All this being said, I would still come back - maybe more for dinner and try out a regular tomato based pizza instead.
